Architecture
Architect John Ian Lee Fulgar studied and graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Architecture and gained experience working with diversified LEED and Greenmark mixed development mega-projects with worldwide industry consultants such as Skidmore Owings & Merrill of New York, Arup, Meinhardt, Cicada, Wilson Associates, and Davis Langdon & Seah. He is the principal architect of Fulgar Architects, an architectural, engineering, and technology studio in the Philippines helping real estate developers, property owners, and business enterprises plan and design unique and future ideas for hotels, resorts, museums, offices, and condominium towers, commercial and mixed-use township developments with a flavor for the meta-modern in the next Philippine architecture.
One of the premium minds of the architectural arena today, Ian Fulgar questions conventional approaches and invites the unique in each project venture. He had been featured in various publications from magazines to newspapers as well as regularly contributes content or articles about future trends in the industry to the Property Section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Ian Fulgar is also the founder of PhilBIG or Philippine Building Industry Guild, a dynamic community of builders and investors exploring mutual opportunities and ventures in construction, real estate projects, and property development. PhilBIG provides opportunities for building industry suppliers and manufacturers to promote their technology and services to an integrated pool of building industry consultants, enthusiasts, investors, and traders.
Technology
With over twelve-year experience in software technology developing both front-end UI and server-side systems, Ian easily leverages a wide variety of parametric building information modeling technologies for design making, energy analysis, 3D software, and related architectural simulations. In addition to training and speaking at seminars and workshops about technology influences on design industries, he manages Metamodern Architect, a blogsite providing fellow architects and designers a resource for theories, techniques, tips, and technology discussions.
Fine Arts
Ian’s enduring love for the fine arts inspires him to continually explore various doctrines and fundamentals in art and design making from traditional subjects to canons of radical constructivism in paintings and other mediums of expression. He investigates criticisms and theories in contemporary art and is currently pursuing graduate studies in the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines – Diliman. Ian’s works could be found in various gallery exhibits and locations across the globe or viewed at Fulgar Studio.
